The question is simple. Is Jim Schwartz still the guy to lead the Philadelphia Eagles on defense?

Overreactions happen all of the time in professional sports. That’s just a part of the deal when there are sports teams and when those teams have fans. In the case of Philadelphia Eagles defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz, it’s almost at the point where the question of whether or not he’s getting the job done needs to be asked.

In the eyes of many, the answer is a simple one. He isn’t.

Three years tells us a lot.

You can learn a lot about something in three years, especially a football team or a coach. In college football, a head coach has had three recruiting classes, and his first should be entering their junior years. Some of those guys may even declare for the NFL Draft early.

Schwartz has been the man in charge of the Eagles’ defense for the last three seasons. One could argue that there’s been no improvement. Others could argue that there’s been regression. One thing can’t be argued. This team is in a worse spot now than they were a few years ago.

Forget what the numbers say. Let’s use that good ol’ eyeball test.

Dude ain’t getting ‘er done. Sure, we can argue this point the other way, but after Sunday’s collapse versus the Carolina Panthers, it’s much easier to point out the negatives than it is to find positives.

Here are five reasons Schwartz’s influence may have run its’ course in Philly.
