The Philadelphia Eagles’ win in London comes at a price. They’ve possibly lost Lane Johnson for an extended period of time following an MCL injury.

Despite a 4-4 start to the season and a bye week on the horizon, some Philadelphia Eagles fans are having a hard time with the roller coaster ride that has been the 2018 NFL season. Well, here’s some more bad news. They may be without Lane Johnson for a extended period of time.

Why is it always a good news and bad news scenario with these guys?

Here’s what we know.

When Philly took the field early on Sunday morning (for those of us in the states), we knew they’d be doing so without rookie offensive tackle Jordan Mailata and guard Matt Pryor. Both were on the inactive list.

The Eagles took seven offensive linemen into Sunday’s contest, and they’d need every single one of them. Starting right tackle Lane Johnson left the field on a cart in the first half. Left tackle Jason Peters also left with a head injury.

Philly responded by placing Halapoulivaati Vaitai at left tackle and kicking Isaac Seumalo out to the right tackle position. Stefen Wisniewski took his familiar spot at left guard.

Thankfully no one else got hurt. That would have been bad, but Philly got some good news at the start of the second half. Peters was cleared to return. He’d finish the game, but Philly’s mainstay on the other side of the line never did.

We learned shortly after the final gun that Johnson had suffered a Grade 2 MCL sprain. Keep in kind the fact that he had also been playing with an ankle injury. He’ll undergo further testing when ‘The Birds’ get back to Philly, but for now, it appears they’ll be without the big guy for an extended period of time.

What else is new? Philly loses another important player at another important position. We should know more soon, but for now, if this diagnosis is correct, Johnson may be out for the better part of about a month.

Thank goodness they’re off next weekend. We’ll have to wait and see how things play out.
