PHILADELPHIA, PA – DECEMBER 31: Cornerback Sidney Jones
PHILADELPHIA, PA – DECEMBER 31: Cornerback Sidney Jones /

Sidney Jones, CB

Second-year veteran cornerback Sidney Jones hasn’t seen the field since Week 6. He went down with a non-contact injury that occurred to his hamstring against the New York Giants. Jones’ injury was the start of the nightmare that occurred for the cornerbacks in the secondary. How crazy is it to think that there are techincally three starting cornerback’s on the Eagles, and all three of them were out at some point last week?

Thankfully, the Eagles will get Jones back as Ronald Darby, and Jalen Mills are out for the time being. Jones may be rusty after missing multiple weeks, but a rusty Sidney Jones may be better than any cornerback that’s currently on the active roster, that’s for sure. Jones will be moved to the outside this week, which is precisely where he belongs.

Before, Jim Schwartz had Jones in the nickel, where he played decent football. But his true identity is on the outside. The Saints aren’t stacked at wide receiver, but their number one target, Michael Thomas is almost perfect. Jones most likely won’t shadow Thomas all day, but he will definitely get tested by Thomas early and often. Will Jones be up for the challenge?
