5. Ronald Darby and Jay Ajayi probably won’t be back.

Maybe it’s happened before, but it’s hard to remember a time where an aging running back or cornerback ended a contract year on a team’s IR (injured reserve) and was awarded a healthy long-term deal the following offseason by that same team.

That’s exactly where Philly is with their running back, Jay Ajayi, and their cornerback, Ronald Darby. Philly has a lot of veteran guys on the roster that they may want to keep around, Brandon Graham and Jordan Hicks for instance. They have somewhere around what feels like fifteen dollars to spend in free agency.

Oh, and by the way, Golden Tate’s contract expires at the end of the current season. The Eagles’ brass has a lot of tough decisions to make at the end of the 2018 campaign about who to re-sign and who to say goodbye to.

At this point, it’s hard to imagine a scenario where both Ajayi and Darby, or either one of them, remains in Eagles green. We’re a long way from that day though. We’ll have to wait and see what happens the rest of the way.
