Regardless of what happens with Nick Foles next season, the Philadelphia Eagles and their fans will love ‘Number 9’ forever. He’s earned that.

You can no longer tell the story of the Philadelphia Eagles without sharing a few words or writing a chapter on what will be one of the most beloved quarterbacks in franchise history, Nick Foles. On Sunday, ‘Number 9’ did it again. He did exactly what was asked of him.

He came right in and played fearlessly as he led his team to victory.

Let’s take one final look at an amazing day.

In what may be his final game at Lincoln Financial Field in an Eagles uniform, Foles put on a performance for several ages. Try 471 passing yards (a franchise record) and four touchdowns on for size. Philly’s final drive, one that saw Foles get knocked out for a play, led to the game-winning field goal by Jake Elliott.

Foles, as he did in last season’s NFC Championship Game, and last February’s Super Bowl, and Week 15’s surprise win over the Los Angeles Rams, made throw after throw, as he willed his team to victory.

Because of his efforts, Philly will walk into the final week of the NFL‘s regular season with a chance to make the postseason, and even though fans would rather blow through the schedule like Philly did a season ago, Foles has helped to put his team in the best position he can.

They’ve got a shot. In the end, that’s all that you can really ask for. All the Eagles have to do is win next week versus the Washington Redskins and get some help from a Chicago Bears team who finish their season versus the Minnesota Vikings, the team that currently holds the sixth seed in the NFC Playoff picture.

If everything works out, the Eagles are in. ‘The Birds’ wouldn’t be in this position without Foles. They know that. The fans know that. Regardless of whether he’s back next season or not, we can say this confidently. ‘Number 9’ will be in the hearts of Eagles fans forever. He’s earned that.
