Halapoulivaati Vaitai, LT

At this point, we’re not exactly sure who’s going to be playing at left tackle this week for the Eagles. Jason Peters is currently questionable, but we can’t be so sure that he’s going to play. His injuries just keep on piling up, and we’re not sure how much this guy can really take. So assuming that Peters is out, that would mean that Halapoulivaati Vaitai is back in at left tackle, and that could definitely mean trouble for the Eagles backfield.

The good news is that the Eagles won’t face the Texans this week. Houston has a dominant defensive line, which made it very difficult for Vaitai to keep the pocket safe for Foles. Washington’s defensive front isn’t as great, but it’s still tough to trust Big V in Peters’ shoes right now. Injury or not, Peters is still the better blocker by far.

Vaitai must play a better game this week. Not only to help the Eagles win but to help keep Nick Foles healthy. Last week, Foles got lucky that his injury on the final drive was nothing significant. He got destroyed, and that play wasn’t the first time that it happened all game. He was taking big hits all afternoon, and so were some of the running backs. Vaitai simply has to be better in order for the Eagles to be successful, and remain healthy on Sunday.
