Philadelphia Eagles: 15 best free agent acquisitions of all-time
By Randy Gurzi
There were many moves made by Chip Kelly that backfired during his short career as the head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles, but going after safety Malcolm Jenkins was not one of them. Signing him goes down as one of the better moves he made, while also proving to be one of the better free agent signings in the club’s history.
Jenkins came into the NFL as a cornerback for the New Orleans Saints after playing for Ohio State. In his second season, he was moved to safety, which ended up being a fantastic move for him, as Jenkins blossomed in the new role.

He ended up being a starter from 2010 through 2013 for New Orleans, but the Saints didn’t offer him a contract when he hit free agency during the 2014 offseason.
That proved to be a great thing for the Eagles, who picked him up on a three-year deal worth $16.25 million.
In his first season with Philadelphia, Jenkins recorded a career-high three interceptions, while being credited with 15 pass breakups, also a career-high.
In addition to always being around the ball, Jenkins has a knack for getting into the end zone once he does pick the ball off. He has six career touchdowns off his 17 interceptions, with four of them coming while playing for the Eagles.
Jenkins has now won a Super Bowl with two teams and is coming off his third Pro Bowl nod — all three of which came with the Eagles.
