Round 2, Pick 53 (Acquired from the Baltimore Ravens):

Mack Wilson, ILB, Alabama Crimson Tide

‘The Birds’ need help at linebacker, and they needed that help yesterday. Here’s a spot where  Philly may go with a pick for necessity and forego the old ‘take the best player available’ option, especially since they pick again at 57.

Wilson is a guy with first-round talent that may slide to the second round. An injury robbed us all of the chance to see him run the 40-yard dash at the Combine, but his ability to play inside and be decent against the pass will not only put him in several conversations. It will also get the attention of defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz.

As you all know, linebackers have to know how to cover in his scheme.

Round 2, Pick 57:

Deebo Samuel, WR, South Carolina Gamecocks

Okay, let’s all understand something. D.K. Metcalf, Marquise Brown, Parris Campbell, and A.J. Brown all figure to be off of the board by now. Also, wide receiver is still a need for Philly.

N’Keal Harry out of Arizona State is big and reliable, but if Philly’s looking for someone who’s a little more versatile and can help in the return game, Samuel may be one of those surprise picks in the second round.

People aren’t discussing him in great detail, but they should be.
