Howard takes pride in protecting the QB

There are tons of running backs in the NFL who talk up their ability to churn out a ton of yards. Also, there are multi-talented backs who like to credit themselves as receivers as well. However, it’s quite rare when you get a running back that wants to discuss how good they are in blocking and pass protection. Jordan Howard is entirely different when it comes to that.

Although Howard did discuss his running style by describing it as ‘rugged’ and ‘physical’ he also wanted to describe his other strengths and weaknesses as well. While Howard is not known for having excellent hands, he did mention that he’s been working on catching out of the backfield to work on improving his game as an all-around back.

The most impressive trait that he brought up though was his skills in pass protection. Obviously, the Eagles didn’t have much help from their running backs last season as most of their guys on board are inexperienced with having that quality. But Howard is different in that sense. He’s one of the better pass protecting running backs in the game, and he recognizes that. In fact, Howard mentioned that he ‘takes pride in protecting the quarterback.’ Which is huge considering Carson Wentz’s injury history as of late.
