Defensive end, Vinny Curry

The Eagles didn’t think Curry was irreplaceable after a Super Bowl run, and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers gave up on him after a single season. He’s back with Philly, but are we even certain he won’t be a battle for a roster spot if one of the young guys step up?

Think about it. That means Philly would have decided against giving him a roster spot for the second time in two seasons.

Defensive tackle, Timmy Jernigan

We all love Timmy, but no one knows if he’s ever going to be the guy that he was prior to that surgical procedure. Had that not been the case, Philly would have had no shot to re-sign him after declining an option on the four-year, $48 million extension they gave him.

That made him an unrestricted free agent on March 4th. No NFL team picked him up until ‘The Birds’ did so on April 25th, and just like that, Jernigan’s got one year to prove he can still play in this league at a high level.

If he can’t prove that here, he may not have much of a market going forward.

Linebacker, L.J. Fort

L.J. Fort’s is a name that that just keeps popping out at you. Philly’s got two undrafted guys that they love, T.J. Edwards and Joey Alfieri. They’ve got young guys who are talented, Nathan Gerry, Kamu Grugier-Hill and B.J. Bello. They’ve got veteran leaders that shouldn’t have any problem making this team, Zach Brown and Nigel Bradham.

Fort better have a good camp if every one stays healthy.
