47. . 7-0. Previous: 1st. New England Patriots. 1. team

Maybe what’s understood doesn’t need to be explained. The New England Patriots hadn’t even suited up for their Monday night game versus the New York Jets, yet hours before kickoff, all of these power rankings were popping up all over the place that still had New England ranked first.

So much for parity and that ‘any team can beat anybody at any time’ theory. Who are we kidding though? The Jets had no shot, and when it was time to take care of business, the Patriots did what they normally do. They won and made it look easy.

Another week passes, and the Pats just roll on. That’s going to happen a lot this season. Look at their schedule. They’ll probably be the favorites in every game they play for the rest of the season.

New Orleans Saints. 2. team. 15. . 6-1. Previous: 2nd

The streak continues. The New Orleans Saints are now 5-0 without their future Hall of Fame quarterback. Though it’s going to be hard for Drew Brees to win the NFL’s MVP Award when he returns, seeing as how there’s been little to no drop off without him, he may have something better to look forward to when he gets back.

He may be returning to the best supporting cast he’s ever had with a realistic shot to win another Super Bowl. Every Saints game is like a party. There may be an even bigger one come February.
