1. Well, the secondary has scared us all season, hasn’t it?

Why does it always seem like we’re talking about the Eagles secondary? It’s not a very complicated question. The answer is even less so. It’s because we are always talking about the Eagles secondary. We’ve seemingly been discussing them since Lito Sheppard and Sheldon Brown left.

Here we are. They took two cornerbacks in 2016’s NFL Draft. That was Blake Countess and Jalen Mills. In 2017, they took two more, Sidney Jones and Rasul Douglas. In 2018, they added Avonte Maddox and a defensive back, Jeremy Reaves. In 2018, they didn’t take one at all.

Mills contributed well for a guy they got in Round 7, but he may leave after this season. Douglas should play safety. Maddox is good but hurt. Jones can’t play, and Countess and Reaves are both gone.

Prior to the Super Bowl-winning season in 2017-18, we were concerned about the Eagles at running back, cornerback, wide receiver, and linebacker. It’s 2019, and what are we worried about? Philly’s struggles at running back, cornerback, wide receiver, and linebacker. Nothing’s changed, and if they don’t make a trade by the deadline, nothing will get better this season.

That means we’ll probably be discussing the Eagles cornerback woes come draft time, and what’s sad about that is they’ll probably take the wrong one if that’s where they address the concern.
