8. Alshon Jeffery and DeSean Jackson are both guaranteed for another season.

This one is obvious. Howie Roseman guaranteed the 2020 salaries of both Alshon Jeffery and DeSean Jackson. Just like that, Philly has roughly a little less than $25 million tied up in two receivers that can’t get healthy and are clearly past their prime.

Oh, you may have heard that DeSean Jackson is on the team’s IR (injured reserve) and won’t be returning in 2019. They’ve both contributed to their team mightily, Jackson to the tune of 90 games with 89 starts, 365 receptions, 6,275 receiving yards, 373 rushing yards, 135 returns on punts and kickoffs (he had four of those), 1,323 total return yards, and 41 total touchdowns.

Jeffery has donned an Eagles jersey in 37 career games, and he’s contributed 156 receptions, 1,985 yards, and 18 touchdowns over his three seasons with Philly. He even added a rushing touchdown this season, the first of his career.

The NFL is a ‘what have you done for me lately’ league though, and this season neither has made substantial contributions with any consistency. Something must be done. These are clearly Carson Wentz’s prime years, and they’re being wasted on some lackluster offenses that are void of some serious playmakers. Grade: F
