October 22nd, 2001: McNabb to Thrash for the game-winner

What an emotional year this was. It hadn’t been two months since the devastating effects of September 11th. Everyone was trying to find enjoyment in something, and as fate would have it, the New York Yankees were in the process of winning the American League pennant versus the Seattle Mariners.

Love them or hate them, if there was ever a year that the Yankees seemingly deserved to win the World Series, it was that year. Magical things seemed to be happening nightly, and sports fans all over the country were giving their remotes a workout.

What would be the final game of the ALDS was on one station, and Monday Night Football was on another.

It’s hard to imagine any Eagles fan was having any issues with their disdain for the Giants though, and four seasons of frustration finally ended when Donovan McNabb found James Thrash in the end zone to secure a 10-9 victory that ended Philly’s nine-game losing streak to their foes from ‘The Big Apple’.
