October 19, 2003: How come this isn’t called a ‘Miracle’ too?

When the words ‘Miracle at the Meadowlands’ are uttered, two games come to mind, and as you might imagine, both made this list. The word ‘miracle’ is a term that’s been thrown around so often in sports that it’s actually lost some of its’ pizazz.

There was a ‘miracle’ in Minneapolis and the ‘Kick Six’ in the Iron Bowl. Well, those may actually qualify, but you get the point. Every amazing sports moment isn’t a miracle. Every Giants loss to the Eagles isn’t amazing even if it’s still just as satisfying, but this one sure was.

On October 19th of 2003, Brian Westbrook took the field to take a punt in a game that had been a defensive struggle all day. The punt carried, took one bounce, and landed perfectly in the waiting hands of Westbrook.

84 yards later, he was in the end zone. The Eagles won 14-10. They went on to play in the NFC Championship Game, but they wouldn’t have had it not been for one of those ‘Miracles’ at the Meadowlands that never gets talked about when we bring up the other two.
