815. . . . Lincoln Riley. 2. player

Current position: Head Coach, Oklahoma Sooners

Did anyone else notice that Lincoln Riley‘s team, the Oklahoma Sooners, are playing in the Big 12 Championship Game? Did anyone notice that the game is being played at ‘Jerry’s World’, better known as AT&T Stadium in Arlington? Or, is it actually better known as ‘Jerry’s World’?

Either way, that’s beside the point. The point is Riley’s team is playing in Jones’ stadium. Do you think ‘good old Jerry’ got in Riley’s ear?

Riley, in two straight seasons, led his quarterbacks to the Heisman Trophy. You know those quarterbacks to be Baker Mayfield of the Cleveland Browns and Kyler Murray of the Arizona Cardinals. He’s also responsible for a lot of the progression we’ve all seen from Jalen Hurts, who was seen as a Heisman candidate for much of the 2019 NCAA regular season.

Riley would satisfy Jones’ thirst for that ‘sexy’ hire, but he’s also hard to slate in that spineless coach category that Jones seems to be so fond of. Once upon a time, Jones hired an Oklahoma Coach, Barry Switzer, and that led to Dallas’ final Super bowl win of the Jones’ era. Could history repeat itself?

If you’re Riley, you’d have to wonder why he’d want to leave Norman in the first place. He seems to have it good there. If you’re a Philadelphia Eagles fan, you could ask yourself why they wouldn’t call him about being the offensive coordinator.
