The meddling owner

ITI: How do Cowboys fans feel about Jerry Jones? Is it the same level of irritation that other fan bases feel when they talk about him?

Steven Mullenax: Yes, I believe so. It’s a long-held belief that Jerry Jones is his own worst enemy. His availability to the press and love of the spotlight is a double-edged sword.

Jones clearly loves his team and has a great passion for football. He wants to win and will do just about anything to do so, which fans respect, but the firing of legend Tom Landry, the lack of Super Bowl victories since the exodus of former head coach Jimmy Johnson I’m including 1995 here as well, and the fact Jones refuses to hire a proper general manager has always drawn the ire of most Cowboy fans.

The “Fire Jerry” sentiment would be much larger if it was based in reality, but as the owner, Jerry Jones is someone fans can’t rid themselves of. If you love the Dallas Cowboys, Jerry Jones and all his antics are simply the baggage every fan is forced to carry.
