Philadelphia Eagles: 5 most frustrating injuries from 2019 season
By Dan Parzych
3. Malik Jackson
For reasons that were difficult to explain, the Jacksonville Jaguars decided to release Malik Jackson back in March, which clearly worked out perfect for the Eagles since they would later go on to sign the defensive tackle.
After watching Jackson record 18 sacks in three seasons with the Jaguars, Philadelphia had plenty of reasons to feel confident in the addition of the pass-rusher to put the defense in better shape to compete in the NFC East.
If only Jackson didn’t suffer a foot injury opening weekend against the Washington Redskins, just maybe the defense wouldn’t be dealing with some of the issues fans have seen on display throughout the 2019 season.
The good news for Philadelphia is once Jackson is fully healthy, and back to his usual ways, there’s every reason to believe the veteran will be in for a strong 2020 campaign.
Last March, the Eagles never would have signed Jackson for the next three years if they truly didn’t believe he was capable of being a valuable member of the defense.
So while his first year in Philadelphia didn’t turn out the way the team expected, there’s still plenty of time for things to work out for the best with Jackson.
