6. A.J. McCarron

A.J. McCarron hasn’t come close to seeing the same kind of success in the NFL as he did in college after winning three titles with Alabama, but at least he has proven to be a reliable backup when needed.

After spending the first four years with the Bengals, McCarron has spent the last two years playing with the Oakland Raiders and Houston Texans.

The fact that McCarron has bounced around to two different teams over the last two years may seem like a concern, but also keep in mind that a contender like the Texans clearly feel confident enough in using him if needed.

So if Houston were to feel this way about McCarron, it only makes sense that Philadelphia should feel the same way.

There was a time in which it seemed like McCarron was moving closer to becoming a starter in the NFL, and while this could end up being the case down the road, backup seems like the better option for now.

Depending on whether the Texans express interest in bringing him back for another year, McCarron would be another example of if a contender were willing to give him a chance, the Eagles should consider the same.
