3. The addition of Caldwell gives the ‘Birds’ a Super Bowl-winning head coach and two of the great minds in our game as its coordinators.

With the news that the Cleveland Browns have made the decision to hire Minnesota Vikings offensive coordinator Kevin Stefanski, we all know no that Jim Schwartz will retain his role as the Eagles’ defensive coordinator. That’s news that has been met with both hot and cold responses by the Eagles fan base.

While many of the complaints of Schwartz’s performance by his detractors normally hasn’t been backed by anything tangible or schematic other than that horrendous ‘picket-fence defense’, where some of the guys on defense kind of hang out around the first-down marker, Schwartz is one of the more astute defensive coordinators in the game.

Forget how many ‘He sucks’ tweets you see on social media. Schwartz has forgotten more about the game than most of us will ever learn. Plus, he’s shown that he can lead an NFL franchise.

Schwartz ironically led the Lions, one of Caldwell’s coaching stops, for five seasons. He even led them to a playoff game once. Adding Caldwell only strengthens Philly. The football IQ of their coaching staff increases dramatically the day Caldwell steps in the Novacare Complex.

Ladies and gentlemen, ignore some of what you see on Twitter. You’re going to see a lot about how Caldwell and Schwartz both don’t know what they’re doing. Nothing could be further from the truth. As a matter of fact, here’s a controversial statement for you. Anyone stating ‘Schwartz is an idiot’ or ‘Caldwell’s a bum’ should never be asked their opinion on football matters again. Caldwell just doesn’t deserve an interview. He may be the best candidate for the job.
