Adding Eric Berry isn’t an option Philadelphia Eagles should ignore

There may not be a better insurance plan.

Injuries are a part of the game, and if it’s found that Berry can perform physically, you can’t ignore the fact that he could serve Philly well in a rotational role.

Think about it. With Jenkins and McLeod potentially in the fold, Philly gets something they don’t have currently with Berry’s addition, real depth at safety.

That allows them to move Jenkins around the formation. Imagine having ’27’ play at the line of scrimmage or giving him and this Eagles defense the flexibility to mix up coverages with him in the slot.

Then, there’s this. Can you honestly say there will be other safeties in the draft or in free agency that can give Philly what Berry could? You can’t can you?

Yes, he’s gotten older. Yes, he’s been hurt. Yes, he may cost the team money. All of those are legitimate concerns, but here’s something worth noting.

Many will dismiss this idea simply by stating ‘What if he isn’t the same Eric Berry?’. That’s fair, but here’s something else that you may want to ask yourself. What if he actually is?
