Speaking of potential help at the cornerback position, even though Jason Verrett won’t be able to suit up for the 49ers in the Super Bowl due to an ankle injury, the defender still deserves consideration from the Eagles once free agency gets underway.

After spending the first part of his career as a member of the Los Angeles Chargers, Verrett was a similar situation to Claiborne where he joined San Francisco on a favorable one-year deal.

Verrett’s brief time with the 49ers only saw the cornerback see action in one game, but the good news for the Eagles is if they were to express interest, they could most likely sign him at a favorable price as well.

Coming off a serious injury is never easy for any athlete, and there’s no telling what to expect from Verrett come 2020, but also Philadelphia should look at what the cornerback was able to accomplish back in 2015 with the Chargers.

During that year, Verrett earned his first and only trip to the Pro Bowl after starting 14 games while setting career highs in numerous categories, including three interceptions.

The chances of Verrett returning to this effective level of play may sound like a long shot at the moment, but if there were a chance for this to happen, why wouldn’t Philadelphia consider this an option?
