Tua Tagovailoa. player. Pick Analysis. Alabama. Quarterback. 5. 59. Scouting Report

Some Miami Dolphins are upset over the team ending up with the fifth overall pick since they appeared to be a lock for the No. 1 spot after two months of regular season action, but at least the team is still in great position to land a new quarterback.

While Brian Flores took plenty of criticism for sticking with Ryan Fitzpatrick in 2019 due to his belief in the veteran giving the Dolphins their best chance to win games, this turned out to work wonders for Miami down the stretch of the regular season.

Obviously, Fitzpatrick is far from the answer for the long run, and the Dolphins could very well decide to stick with him for another year, but they will need to decide on their next franchise quarterback soon.

With all due respect to Josh Rosen since the former first-round pick certainly deserves the opportunity to prove himself, but if Miami has the chance to go with Tua Tagovailoa instead, this would easily be a no brainer.

Since the 2017 season, football fans knew it was only a matter of time before Tagovailoa took his talents to the NFL, and the 76 touchdowns compared to just nine interceptions during his final two years at Alabama makes it easy to see why.

Even if the Dolphins spent another year with Fitzpatrick while allowing Tagovailoa to develop from the sidelines, in the long run, this would be well worth the selection for Miami.
