4 surprise roster cuts Eagles could also make after Nigel Bradham release
By Dan Parzych
2. Malcolm Jenkins
First off, let the record show in comparison to other safeties across the league on top of what he’s currently being paid, there’s no question that Malcolm Jenkins clearly deserves a new contract from the Eagles.
Shortly after this past season came to an end, Jenkins made it clear that he was unhappy over his current contract situation, and if nothing changes, no one should rule out a possible holdout down the road.
One can only imagine how different things would have been on defense over the last six seasons if Jenkins weren’t part of the picture, and Philadelphia should arguably be bending over backwards to do whatever it takes to make the veteran happy.
But once again, the NFL is still a business at the end of the day, and with the Eagles having a history of refusing to give into player demands for new contracts, if Jenkins didn’t get what he want, this wouldn’t come as a surprise at all.
As bad as it sounds, just the thought of Philadelphia ever considering the possibility of moving on from Jenkins would draw plenty of frustration from the fan base, and put extra pressure on the Eagles in 2020 to remain a top contender in the NFC.
So for the sake of keeping Philadelphia as one of the top teams to beat within the conference, here’s to hoping this potential surprise never comes close to even happening.
