By now, if you’re like everyone else, you’ve probably already identified that the weakest links on this Eagles team are the cornerback grouping and the wide receiver corps.

If Philly invests in a cover guy in Round 1, there’s a possibility that Jeffrey OkudahC.J. Henderson, and Damon Arnette are all off of the board, so we’ll just assume former Alabama Crimson Tide standout Trevon Diggs will be available.

Last season he racked up 37 tackles and picked off three passes, and he’d look mighty fine in an Eagles jersey.

When some of the earlier mocks dropped, which, believe it or not, was actually before Christmas, Michael Renner of Pro Football Focus named Kristian Fulton as being a possible option for Philly in Round 1.

Since then, he added some tape in the College Football Playoff National Championship Game that worried a few people. Now, some see him as a day 2 prospect, but a nice NFL Combine and Pro Day with his LSU Tigers teammates could fix that. Keep an eye on him over the next month or so.

. player. 893. . . . Cameron Dantzler

School: Mississippi State Bulldogs

We’re all probably having the same thoughts right now. The last time the Eagles were certain to go with a cornerback or wide receiver in the first round of the draft, they went with Derek Barnett, a defensive end.

While taking the best player available is important, there also has to be a balancing act in deciding which needs are the most pressing, and Philly may not have a more pressing need than big physical corners who don’t get bullied by some of the game’s better receivers.

At six-foot-two and 195 pounds, Cameron Dantzler, formerly of the Mississippi State Bulldogs, has a chance to be that guy at the next level. He snagged two picks and had 40 total tackles in 2019.
