Philadelphia Eagles: 5 RB options that are better than Jordan Howard
This satisfies that workhorse idea. Truthfully, there aren’t too many guys that can tote the rock 20 times a game or grind out yards late to chew clock up, but we know that Melvin Gordon can do that.
He should also be relatively well-rested and healthy. 2019’s season began with Gordon sitting out in an attempt to try to coax the Los Angeles Chargers into giving him a long-term extension. He didn’t go to Cabo San Lucas or anything, but he did miss the first four games of the campaign.
L.A. didn’t budge, and Gordon returned in Week 5. He caused no distraction. He gave it his all. When the curtain closed on the 2019 regular season. Philip Rivers looked more like Case Keenum than Philip Rivers, the ‘Bolts’ had been eliminated from postseason contention, and Gordon had carried the ball 162 times for 612 yards and reached the end zone on eight different occasions. He also caught 42 passes for another 296 yards, and he reached the end zone again as a receiver.
In all honesty, two Chargers can be thrown on this list. One’s a restricted free agent, Austin Ekeler (he’s no slouch either). The other is Gordon. Eckler can’t handle a full load though. With that being said, Gordon presents more bang for Philly’s bucks. He’ll have his fair share of suitors. One of them has to be the guys from the ‘City of Brotherly Love’.
