. . Josh Huff, 3rd Round. . player. 54.

86th-overall selection (2014)

After taking Jordan Matthews with the 42nd selection of the 2014 NFL Draft, Philly landed Josh Huff 44 slots later. Kelly liked him because Huff played for Kelly while both were with the Oregon Ducks. Maybe Chip should have left him in Eugene. Then again, when you think about it, the guy wasn’t awful.

In fairness, Huff showed that he did have some value. In 34 games as an Eagle, he caught 77 passes for 482 yards and found his way into the end zone three times. He also showed some of his worth in the return game.

He was dangerous and often made teams wonder if they should kick the ball in his direction. Huff has a career return average of 27.7 thanks to his decision to field 42 kickoffs. He racked up 1,165 yards and two touchdowns in the process, and he’s credited with four rushing attempts for 17 yards and another trip to the endzone.

Unfortunately, there was also that thing about him being arrested for having the marijuana and the gun on the Walt Whitman Bridge in New Jersey.

The ‘Birds’ released Huff days later on November 3rd of 2016. He bounced around the league before winding up with the now-defunct AAF’s Arizona Hotshots and on the CFL’s Calgary Stampeders roster, where he’s still playing.

The Eagles passed on Martavis Bryant and Richard Rodgers, who were both still on the board when Philly took Huff in Round 3. Grade: C
