Revisiting, grading every WR Philadelphia Eagles have drafted since 2010
118th-overall selection (2017)
Philly got nothing out of Mack Hollins, absolutely nothing. The plan was the ‘Birds’ were getting a nice blend of size and speed with his selection in 2017. That never happened, and in 28 career games with the guys in green, Hollins caught 26 passes for 351 yards and one touchdown (he hasn’t reached the end zone since 2017).
‘Throwback Mack’ hung around this team entirely too long as the only thing he’s remembered for is his bad play, wearing throwback jerseys to Lincoln Financial Field on gameday, and wearing DeSean Jackson’s number until DeSean returned to Philly to take it back from him in 2019.
He was defended by Carson Walch in 2019 as the man who was Philly’s wide receivers coach at the time stated that Hollins was doing a great job because he ‘lined up properly’.
He initially won a roster spot on Philly’s first 53-man unit of 2020 over Greg Ward because he supposedly had more value on special teams, but he was only in for 57 special teams snaps in 2020 (roughly 13 percent). Greg Ward eclipsed that with 71 special teams snaps (16 percent).
So, as mentioned, there’s no reason to explain why Hollins was here so long unless Philly’s just stubborn and didn’t want to admit that they were wrong by choosing him. Grade: F
