Of course, we have to bring up the stats.

What kind of analytical piece would this be if the numbers weren’t brought up? Let’s take a moment and look at what both did at the collegiate level.

In 2019, as mentioned, Shenault dealt with some sub-par quarterback play and still managed to turn in 52 receptions for 721 yards and four touchdowns. Had he done that in midnight green, he would already be the toast of Philadelphia, wouldn’t he?

27 career games in the Buffaloes program wound up with him tacking 149 receptions for 1,943 yards and ten trips to the end zone on his resume. He’s also credited with 42 rushing attempts for 280 yards and seven more scores. He also returned a kickoff for 54 yards in 2019. It makes you wonder why his coaches didn’t put him back there more often, doesn’t it?

Meanwhile, in Tuscaloosa, Ruggs was busy hauling in 40 receptions for 746 yards and seven scores. He had another two rushes for 75 yards and a touchdown, giving him 1,716 yards on 98 receptions and those 75 rushing yards for his 40-game career with the Tide.

Again, had he done any of that in Philly a season ago, he’d be treated like a conquering hero.
