3. Blake Bortles

Originally, Blake Bortles joined the Rams on a one-year deal for 2019 with the hope a season playing under Sean McVay would lead to a starting role on a different team for 2020.

Unfortunately for Bortles, when looking at the situations of teams with quarterback needs, it’s safe to assume the former first-round pick will be in for another year playing in the backup role.

With that being said, just because things failed to work out for the best with Bortles during his days with the Jacksonville Jaguars doesn’t mean the Eagles should avoid consideration since his experience alone could come in handy.

Minus the playoff loss to the Seattle Seahawks, it was great to see Carson Wentz remain healthy throughout the 2019 season, and certainly makes the Eagles feel better about their long-term plans at quarterback.

Assuming Josh McCown heads to retirement again along with Nate Sudfeld hitting the open market in free agency, Philadelphia will be in need of an experienced backup quarterback for 2020 just to have the necessary insurance to Wentz.

Bortles isn’t going to draw as much attention as some of the other available quarterbacks, but since the Eagles would most likely be able to sign him at a fair price, and he knows what it takes to be a reliable starter, the team would really have nothing to lose here.
