3 Reasons Philadelphia Eagles should be concerned about Andre Dillard
How much can we trust some of the things Howie and Doug say?
Well, it sounded great. Shortly after the close of the 2019-2020 season, Howie Roseman made a confession and a statement and much of the ‘Birds’ fan base went bananas.
He admitted that, sometimes, he gets attached to players, and he lamented that change had to come in the Eagles’ organization from a player’s standpoint. This roster has to get younger, and the potential $40 million that they’ll have to maneuver with during the free agency period and the ten draft selections they’re expected to have in the selection meeting will need to be used to construct a better version than the one we’ve seen over the past two seasons.
Twice in two years, we’ve watched a team that should have challenged for a Super Bowl get ravaged by injury, and much of that is because the team is too doggone old. Every time any of us thinks about that, we immediately think about Peters. Why? It’s simple. He’s 38 years old, and he commands a very high price tag.
We just assumed that ‘The Bodyguard’ was out of here, but hold on kemosabe. All of a sudden, Howie doesn’t seem totally dedicated to moving on from the man who will one day be enshrined in Canton, and head coach Doug Pederson is yelling out ‘Heck yeah’ when he’s asked if he wants Peters back in the fold for the 2020 season.
Sure, that can be viewed as a sign of respect and no one would be upset with Coach Pederson if that was his reason for showing the enthusiasm, but is it also ridiculous to assume that something else is in play?
The aging and less effective Jason Peters might still be more effective than most of the left tackles in football, including one Andre Dillard. So much for getting younger, huh?
