Here’s a closer look at Denzel Mims.

Denzel Mims was the apple of a few eyes as we all moved through the draft process, and at six-foot-three and 207 pounds, it’s easy to see why that’s the case. Men that are his size aren’t supposed to be able to run the 40-yard dash in 4.38 seconds, but that’s exactly what he did during the most recent NFL Scouting Combine.

Mims also showcased a 38.5-inch vertical and had a showing of 131 inches in the broad jump. that came after he threw up 16 reps on the bench press. Call it a crazy comparison, but that type of freakish athletic ability in a man that size is only possessed by guys like Julio Jones and Calvin Johnson.

Mims racked up 66 receptions for 1,020 yards with 12 touchdowns in 2019. The fact that he was even available at 53 is both amazing and a testament to how deep this draft class is at wide receiver. He would have immediately cured any ills the Eagles had at wide receiver for the next decade. The “Birds” had a shot. They said no.

There isn’t an Eagles fan in the Delaware Valley or anywhere else in the country that doesn’t know who they took in his place.
