3 Reasons 2020 will be DeSean Jackson’s final Eagles season
3. Even if he gets through 2020 healthy, how much time does he have left?
There have never been any questions about DeSean Jackson’s skill level. Every question that we’ve ever had about him have been about the same things. Can he stay healthy and when will he be back if he gets hurt?
Jackson hasn’t played an entire 16-game regular-season schedule since 2013, the final season of his first run with Philadelphia. What was supposed to be a season-long party in 2019 after the Eagles re-acquired him via trade on March 13th of last year turned into a season of question marks, criticism, and complaints about his decision-making process.
On November 5th, he underwent surgery to repair a core muscle injury. He’s had time to recover, but whether Philly places him on some sort of pitch count or not or whether he’s given the green light for the full slate of offensive snaps or not, there’s a serious question that needs to be asked.
Even if Jackson has 16 games in him this season, what have we seen that would make us think that an oft-injured but talented star who turns 35 in December can do the same in 2021?
People don’t get faster and heal faster when they get older, not even someone as physically gifted as “10”. There isn’t an Eagles fan on the planet that isn’t appreciative of what DeSean Jackson has done in an Eagles jersey, but reality needs to be settling in here. This may be his farewell tour in an Eagles jersey. It’s sad, but it’s probably true.
