Ranking every Philadelphia Eagles primetime game based on three factors
Sunday, October 4th, 8:20 p.m. EST (Week 4)
What a difference a few seasons make. Heading into the 2018 season, the “Birds” were the defending champions and the class of the NFC. Heading into the 2020 campaign, the San Francisco 49ers are the team with the target on their backs. They’ll get everyone’s best effort in 2020.
San Fran came within a few plays of hoisting the Lombardi Trophy. They’re young. They were already loaded, and as if that wasn’t scary enough, they added defensive tackle Javon Kinlaw and wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk in the first round of the most recent draft.
Everyone’s talking about a potential Super Bowl hangover, but with all of the difference makers this team has, it’s hard to believe that anything other than closing the deal would be acceptable. This one will tell us a lot about how good the Eagles are, but a loss won’t be catastrophic as the Eagles meet the Niners in Week 4.
Philly should be relatively healthy with this game coming so early, but even if they lose, it won’t wreck their season. A lot of football is left to be played after this one, and the other three teams in the NFC East have to play the Niners too. The Giants play them in Week 3. The Redskins play them in Week 14. The Cowboys renew acquaintances with their extended rivals in Week 15.
