. . . JJ Arcega-Whiteside, wide receiver. . player. 54

Nothing says “boom or bust” like Philadelphia Eagles second-year receiver JJ Arcega-Whiteside.

It’s easy to pick on JJ Arcega-Whiteside. It truly is. It’s easy to point to what D.K. Metcalf did with the Seattle Seahawks and bring up the fact that Philly grabbed JJ instead of him. It’s easy to blame Carson Walch. He was horrible, and you can argue that every Eagles wide receiver underperformed under his guidance. You can even blame “JJAW”.

Dropping that final pass from Carson Wentz versus the Detroit Lions is inexcusable. Ten receptions for 169 yards and one touchdown from a second-rounder is inexcusable. It’s also inexcusable for the general manager to keep treating the fans and media like the Eagles are always right, for him to keep acting like his decisions shouldn’t be questioned, and like none of us have years of disappointments to draw from.

The good news is this. Arcega-Whiteside will improve. Hey, how could he not? Philly made the right hire at wide receiver coach with Aaron Moorehead, but regardless of what Howie is saying, the excitement surrounding “19”, if there is any, needs to be tempered. After Shelton Gibson and Mack Hollins, why should any Eagles fan be excited?
