. . . Jordan Mailata. . player. 54

This one is so scary that it might make one’s head begin to ache if they thought about it for too long. At the time of this story being published, less than 17 days remain until Philly straps on the pads and heads to Washington, D.C. to play a football game.

Sure, bringing in an outsider to fill a void is an option, but to be honest, the best course of action might be to just coach up the guys who are already here. For some, that’s been a tougher task for Jeff Stoutland and company than others. Enter Jordan Mailata.

There’s no nice way to say this. There have been instances where the Australian has looked downright awful. Throughout ten days of camp, there’s been more to criticize than there has been to praise. As a matter of fact, the two biggest talking points concerning Mailata have been one instance where Joe Ostman was getting by him whenever he felt like it and another where, following a practice-ending sack, he threw his helmet and got a tongue lashing from head coach Doug Pederson.

Think about that time Lane Johnson got suspended, and Halapoulivaati Vaitai had to make his first career start in D.C. versus Ryan Kerrigan. Remember how bad that was? That’s what it’s looked like. Don’t look now, but an injury to Dillard means Mailata’s chances to make the roster have skyrocketed, but if we’re being honest, he has a ton of work to do between now and September 13th.
