Jack Driscoll, right tackle?. 2. player. 54. . .

If Lane can’t go in Week 1, we may get extended looks at this Philadelphia Eagles rookie.

The last time Lane Johnson was forced out of action in a road game versus Washington and a rookie had to come in and fill the void at right tackle, things didn’t go too well. Ryan Kerrigan at Halapoulivaati Vaitai for breakfast. Then, he regurgitated him and ate him again for lunch.

You don’t have to admit to this if you don’t want to, but some of us panicked. We thought ‘Big V’ would never be the same after that.

The moral of this story is an easy one to detail. We often discuss developing quarterbacks, but we don’t do that as often with the other players on the field. Still, every position group needs coaching. JJ Arcega-Whiteside is going to be fine. ‘Big V’ turned out okay (we bet the Eagles wish he was still here right now), and this Jack Driscoll kid is going to be very good for a long time.

Driscoll’s lined up versus just about all of the team’s veterans at some point, and he’s won the respect of each of them and his coaches. If Lane can’t go versus Washington, the responsibility of keeping Carson Wentz vertical falls on, possibly, two young right tackles who have never started in an NFL game before at the position. That could wind up being Driscoll and Jordan Mailata, or it could be the responsibility of the last name on this list.
