player. 54. . . . Derek Barnett, defensive end. 10

A former Philadelphia Eagles first-round pick could make his 2020 debut.

Forget about all of the expectations Philadelphia had for Derek Barnett for a second. The clock is ticking, and now, the feeling is that it’s unlikely that he will turn out to be a star in this league. Sure, everyone won’t be a superstar, but this team has invested a lot into this guy, and it’s time that they see a return on those investments.

Barnett was a full participant at practice in the days leading up to Week 2’s game after he was limited for quite a considerable amount of time with a hamstring injury. The former Vols defensive end is closer to making his season debut and could help a defensive line that will be without defensive end Vinny Curry and possibly without veteran defensive end Brandon Graham.

player. 54. . . . Malik Jackson, Defensive tackle. 9

After having his 2019 season cut short due to a Lisfranc injury, it was great to see defensive tackle Malik Jackson healthy and back on the field in Philadelphia’s first game. Although the Eagles’ Week 1 debacle is nothing to be proud of, Jackson played well, and that’s very encouraging.

He played 55 snaps against Washington, racked up two tackles, and had two assists. Moreover, he had four total pressures on 30 pass-rush snaps. If he can maintain that kind of production and add one or even two sacks, the Eagles defensive line can disrupt Rams quarterback Jared Goff all game long.
