Could the Giants hand their spot in the cellar to the Philadelphia Eagles?

Although the Giants and the Eagles currently share some unflattering similarities, the main one being their 0-2 record to start the 2020 season, there are a few things that are keeping New York’s most popular NFL team in the divisional dungeon. One of which is they lost Saquon Barkley to a torn ACL. He’s now out for the season after just two games.

Prior to his his injury, Barkley had tallied a paltry 19 carries for 34 yards in two games, so he never even gained any steam, but that’s probably because everyone’s game plan is to stop him. Now, the ‘G-Men’ will have to do without him. Quarterback Daniel Jones and second-year wide receiver Darius Slayton will have to shoulder the load, and they’ve been solid, but Barkley’s absence will cast a dark shadow over this team all season.

Newly-acquired cornerback James Bradberry played well, but not enough to overcome the team’s deficiencies. The same goes for the team’s 2018 third-round selection, Lorenzo Carter, who registered his first sack of the season and had four solo tackles.

The Giants offense has scored a total of 29 points in two games while allowing 43. They need to flip that number if they want to get some wins. The 2020 season is still young, so there is time to turn things around. They have good players on both sides of the ball but not enough to win on a weekly basis.
