These are not the Philadelphia Eagles we expected to see.

For the second week on a row, the Eagles move back in this ranking countdown, but more importantly, they dropped another game. Both losses were to NFC opponents. One was to a divisional rival. That will come back to haunt them later. A win versus the Rams didn’t seem like a guarantee, but whether you believe L.A. is a lesser opponent or not, you can’t argue with the result.

Sadly, the ‘Birds’ lost the second game of the year and now have a two-game losing streak. The first game at Lincoln Financial Field didn’t provide very many positive memories for Eagles fans.

Quarterback Carson Wentz threw two interceptions and his 42.7 passer rating ranks last in the NFL after two weeks. The defense failed to make meaningful stops. They didn’t generate consistent pressure, and that allowed the Rams to run for 191 yards and two rushing touchdowns.

On the bright side, the ‘Birds’ offensive line improved significantly with right tackle Lane Johnson back in the starting lineup. The Eagles ‘hog mollies’ didn’t let the Rams record any sacks after allowing eight against Washington in Week 1. On the not so bright side, left guard Isaac Seumalo left the game with a knee injury, and now that he’s been placed on injured reserve, Pjilly will be without him for a few weeks.

It’s too early to panic and the Eagles have time to figure how they’re going to get control of the season before it slips out of their hands, but the clock is ticking.
