Feels like forever since the Philadelphia Eagles sat at the top.

How many of you had turned off the tube or were about to on that Dallas Cowboys game? You just couldn’t do it though, could you? It’s like the Atlanta Falcons are cursed. They always seem to let their opponent back in the game, but you have to give ‘Big-D’ credit for hanging until the end.

Mike McCarthy got his first win as Dallas’ head coach, overcoming a 20-0 deficit. His team showed both resilience and heart, and that’s why Dallas is 1-1 heading into Week 3.

Something that makes the Cowboys win more astonishing is the fact they committed three turnovers versus none for Atlanta. That usually isn’t a recipe for success in the NFL. How many teams overcome four fumbles? That’s exactly what the Cowboys did, and it doesn’t hurt that their quarterback, Dak Prescott, slung the rock on his way to 450 passing yards, one passing touchdown, and three rushing touchdowns in what was a gutty performance.

The Cowboys’ defense didn’t do much. They hardly pressured Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan and allowed 39 points, but one week after losing to the Rams, these Cowboys showed they have the offensive firepower to keep up with some of the more explosive offenses in the NFL. They can win a shootout if they have to. If the defense can improve, they’ll have a chance to compete for the division crown at season’s end.
