Philadelphia Eagles make 3 major roster moves ahead of Week 4’s game
3. Help might be on the way for the Philadelphia Eagles at wide receiver.
Just in case you missed this one on Tuesday, this is also interesting. Philly also added a 21-day practice window for rookie wide receiver Quez Watkins. In other words, Philly has until Tuesday, October 20th at 4 PM EST to make a decision about whether they’ll add Watkins to the active roster or keep him on Injured Reserve for the remainder of the season.
Watkins hasn’t appeared in any games so far during the 2020 NFL season, but this move means that we may see him soon. Would Sunday be a stretch though? Then again, if he can go, how effective do we think that he can be? History has taught us that might be asking for too much.
Philly’s flirting with entering their next game with their only available receivers being a hobbled Jackson, John Hightower, Greg Ward, and J.J. Arcega-Whiteside, who was also dealing with some physical limitations that kept him out of most of Week 3’s game. Again, that’s assuming that Watkins can’t go.
Philly elevated Deontay Burnett from the practice squad a week ago, so that may be another option. There’s been no word about whether they may do that again for Week 4’s game or whether or not Alshon Jeffery will be ready for that one either. Philadelphia did announce that they were protecting four practice squad players on Tuesday (Burnett, wide receiver Travis Fulgham, center Luke Juriga, and running back Adrian Killins).
Are you worried? Well, you should be! The next three games are versus teams with better talent that are playing at a higher level. The first of which is on the ‘left coast’ versus a San Francisco 49ers team that just smoked the New York Giants with a bunch of backups.
