5 Philadelphia Eagles whose stock is soaring after September
The Philadelphia Eagles’ QB2 is normally one of the team’s most popular players.
It’s a true statement unless you lived in New England for the last 20 years or you live in Kansas City or New Orleans. Often, a team’s most popular player is its backup quarterback. Just think about recent history if you’re a Philadelphia Eagles fan.
Carson Wentz has to walk by a statue of Nick Foles every day, for obvious reasons, and as if that wasn’t enough to have him looking over his shoulder, ‘Saint Nick’ had a shrine of some sort built in his locker after he left. Fast forward to the present, almost two years after Foles played his final game as an Eagle, and there are still ‘Birds’ fans that would rather see ‘9’ on the field than ’11’.
Present times have offered us yet another quarterback controversy. This one again features Wentz, but Philly’s second-round draft choice from 2020’s NFL Draft is the guy much of the fan base is calling for.
There’s no need to get you caught up on the growing frustration that has surrounded Carson Wentz. You’ve been following this team forever, haven’t you? It also serves no purpose to remind you that there aren’t many collegiate stars who can say they’ve played quarterback for two of college football’s most storied programs, the Oklahoma Sooners and the Alabama Crimson Tide.
Hurts can say that about himself though. He could be the next Russell Wilson, the future star everyone ignored. We don’t know that yet, but we do know is this. Philly hasn’t stated that Wentz is in danger of losing his job, but if he walks out onto the field for Sunday Night Football in Week 3 and this team, again struggles on offense, the calls for Jalen Hurts are only going to get louder.
