54. . . . Nathan Gerry, linebacker. 1. player

Nathan Gerry isn’t proving anything to the Philadelphia Eagles or their fans.

Say what you want about Andy Reid during his tenure as the Philadelphia Eagles’ coach. More often than not, during his run, Philly moved on from guys a year early rather than a year too late. Sure, there were some bad deals and bad draft picks during that era as well, but ‘Big Red’ didn’t have a ton of guys walking around that were on the squad because of some emotional investment when on-field results had long gone out the window.

Fast forward to the present, and Eagles president and general manager Howie Roseman is constantly giving guys too much money for too many years. Still, even with that being said, while he was guaranteeing the salaries for old wide receivers and exercising Derek Barnett’s fifth-year option (which may have also been done a little too hastily), good old Howie never gave an extension to Nathan Gerry.

Trending. Stock up, stock down: 5 Eagles on both sides. light

The ‘White Snake’ is in a contract season, and so far, he hasn’t done anything to demonstrate that he should be in Philadelphia’s long-term plans. What’s even worse news is this. Gerry hasn’t done anything to prove that he deserves a chance to play on another NFL team either.

Alex Singleton deserves his shot at the linebacker position. So do Shaun Bradley and Davion Taylor. We already know what this team looks like with Gerry is on the field, and it isn’t a very encouraging thought.
