This might be the Philadelphia Eagles’ best first-round prospect based on their position.

Even with a 1-2-1 record, something just won’t leave the thought process of any Philadelphia Eagles fan. This team may probably still win the NFC East. That probably means this team suffers a first-round defeat, especially if things continue in the manner that they’ve been going, but from a draft perspective, that also means they’re first-round selection comes towards the middle of the draft’s first night.

With that being said, throw out any theories of landing Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence, his star-studded running back Travis Etienne (maybe), or Miami defensive end Gregory Rosseau. There aren’t a ton of ACC players who are getting late first-round grades that make you feel all warm and fuzzy on the inside, and a lot of the conference’s biggest stars seem like solid Day 2 prospects.

With that being said, in a mock where we examine all of the Power 5 schools, we’d say the best options are in the SEC. In an All-ACC mock, Carlos Basham is as good an idea as any. He’s been relatively healthy and could be a nice option for a team that still isn’t sure about Derek Barnett and may be forced to move on Brandon Graham at this season’s end. That isn’t because the latter idea is the best plan. Its because ‘B.G.’ is expensive and good old Howie hasn’t done a good job with the salary cap.
