Philadelphia Eagles versus their NFC East rivals: Midseason rankings
So, if Washington plays the Philadelphia Eagles’ right now, who wins?
Winning games in the NFL is hard. Just ask Washington. Their win in Week 7 was their first since Week 1 versus Philly, but have they turned the corner, or was that win the result of playing a team that’s even more challenged at the quarterback position?
Jon Bostic’s shot on Andy Dalton was dirty. There’s no doubt about it. Ron Rivera apologized to Mike McCarthy post-game but having said that Dallas lost in Week 7 for more reasons than that headshot. Losing Dalton just added insult to injury (no pun or disrespect intended).
Washington rookie running back Antonio Gibson had the best game of his young career, racking up 128 yards on the ground and one touchdown on 20 carriers. Wide receiver Terry McLaurin was his efficient self, hauling in seven receptions for 90 yards and one touchdown. Kyle Allen threw two touchdowns and didn’t turn the ball over, a recipe to win football games more often than not.
The defense did their part and recorded six sacks and one interception. It’s important to keep things in perspective and remember they did so against a team that has problems all over the roster, but this was a game Washington was supposed to win and they did. They’ll be idle next week. They’ll need to regroup, but they’re a long way from fixing some very visible flaws.
