5 Philadelphia Eagles whose stock you may need to sell immediately
Hopefully, the Philadelphia Eagles general manager didn’t screw this one up too.
As good as Javon Hargrave is, when Howie Roseman made him one of the Eagles’ first major signings of the most recent ‘free agency frenzy’, there were a ton of ‘Birds’ fans who were scratching their heads. Philly had Fletcher Cox already, and Malik Jackson was set to return from a season-ending injury that he sustained in 2019 when the NFL resumed operations in 2020.
Oh, and that’s not all. Hours before the announcement of Hargrave’s addition, Philadelphia had already inked Hassan Ridgeway to a one-year extension. So, what was the need for another defensive tackle when the Eagles already had three very good ones and there were so many other needs like the ones this team has at wide receiver, linebacker, running back, safety, and cornerback? It just didn’t make sense.
Fast forward, and here we are. Hargrave hasn’t done much, and there are some concerns about whether or not he’s actually healthy. After missing the first game of the 2020 season due to injury, this young man has racked up a mere seven tackles, two additional quarterback hits, and one sack. If the math here is on point, so far that’s a little less than $2 million per tackle. Is anyone else feeling like they made a bad career choice?
