The stars have to step up for the Philadelphia Eagles, and now.

Eight games into the Philadelphia Eagles‘ 2020 season, there are more questions than there are answers. Sure, the Birds are the first-place team in their division, but this team just doesn’t look playoff ready, nor do they look like a team that deserves to host a playoff game.

They’re averaging a measly 23.2 points per game which ranks them at 24th in the league. Given the number of injuries to the offense last year and the so-called ‘improvements that were added in the offseason, fans expected to see a more potent offense in 2020. Ironically enough, the 2019 Eagles averaged 23.2 points per game as well. There have literally been zero improvements in that category.

The defense hasn’t been a reason for optimism either. Jim Schwartz’s crew is allowing an average of 25.8 points per game and the usually stout defensive line is letting teams run all over them. The linebackers look inexperienced and besides Darius Slay, the secondary isn’t anything special as well.

So who’s to blame? The coaches are certainly at fault for incorporating questionable play calls and basic schemes, but when it comes down to it, the players have to step up and perform. A few guys, such as Travis Fulgham, have done exactly this. But the rest of them have to turn it around. Let’s highlight 4 players in particular who need to improve for the second half of the season.
