Philadelphia Eagles’ DT Javon Hargrave has not lived up to expectations.

The signing of Javon Hargrave this past summer raised some questions, but the idea of having Hargrave and Cox in tandem made many fans hopeful. In theory, it was a good signing as Fletcher Cox was doubled on 36 percent of his snaps in 2019 and Hargrave should have reduced that number significantly. Theory, however, doesn’t win football games and Javon Hargrave hasn’t helped the Philadelphia Eagles win football games.

In seven games played, Hargrave has only registered nine combined tackles and one tackle for loss. To put this into perspective, Hassan Ridgeway has more tackles and more tackles for loss in 143 fewer snaps. Ridgeway, who suffered a season-ending bicep injury in Week 8, is making $1 million dollars this year in comparison to Hargrave’s $13 million.

The combination of Fletcher Cox and Javon Hargrave was supposed to give offensive linemen nightmares. Instead, the duo that is making a combined $30.1 million dollars this year only has eight combined QB hits in eight games. Something has to change.
