This Philadelphia Eagles defense has to help keep the offense in the game.

Simply put, the Browns offense can score with just about anybody in the NFL. The Eagles’ offense won’t be able to keep pace on their own. Jim Schwartz’s guys will need to force a turnover, put out a few fires, and probably even score.

If they show up and put together one of their lackluster performances that they’re now known for, this game can get out of hand a la that Thanksgiving game in Detroit versus the Lions during Chip Kelly’s run as head coach.

1. Javon Hargrave, defensive tackle

Okay, enough is enough. This was supposed to be one of Philly’s prized acquisitions during the offseason. It’s time for Javon Hargrave to start producing.

2. Avonte Maddox, cornerback

There’s no nice way to say this. Avonte Maddox has to be better than he’s been during the first part of this season.

3. Nickell Robey-Coleman, cornerback

At this point, it’s hard to determine where the term ‘slot god’ came from. Like Hargrave, Philly put a lot of stock in NRC. They need a return on that investment.

4. Alex Singleton, linebacker

To be honest, the Birds have probably asked too much of Alex Singleton, but that’s how the NFL works. He’ll need to be everything the Birds hoped Nathan Gerry would be (and more).

5. Jalen Mills, safety

For years, the narrative has been Philly’s defense gets a boost whenever the Green Goblin is on the field. They sure could use that boost now.
